Snap-Lock Panels
Snap-Lock Panels
Standing seam Snap-Lock metal roof panels are a top choice for metal roofing. They feature vertical seams that snap together over concealed clips, leaving no exposed screws on the surface. This design gives a clean, modern look and creates a weather-tight seal that prevents leaks. Snap-Lock panels are engineered for longevity – a properly installed standing seam roof can last 40–60+ years with minimal maintenance. These panels are ideal for Utah’s climate, offering excellent durability against heavy snow, wind, and intense UV exposure. They also work with “Cool Roof” paint finishes that reflect sunlight to reduce heat build-up, improving energy efficiency of the building.
16-inch Snap-Lock Panel
- Coverage: 16 inches (406 mm) wide per panel with 1" rib.
- Fastening: Integrated nail-strip flange (no clips needed).
- Material: Available in 24-gauge or 26-gauge with Kynar 500®/PVDF finish.
- Advantages: Faster installation, good for a DIY application, great for small accent roofs on your home.
Width: 406.0mm
24ga: 4.76 | 26ga: 3.57
18-inch Snap-Lock Panel
- Coverage: 18 inches (457 mm) wide per panel with bold 1.75" rib.
- Fastening: Clip-fastened design allows for thermal expansion.
- Striations: Striations in the panel look great and reduce oil canning (waviness).
- Material: 24-gauge with Kynar 500®/PVDF finish.
- Advantages: The tall ribs really shine in mountainous areas where snow and ice are prevalent.

- Features
- Lifetime Durability: Crafted from high-quality galvanized steel with Kynar/PVDF coating, our standing seam roofs are built to last 40–60 years or more under proper installation. They resist cracking, warping, and corrosion far better than traditional shingles.
- Concealed Fasteners: Snap-Lock panels use a clip-fastened, interlocking seam design. This means no screws penetrate the top of the panel, dramatically reducing the chance of leaks and giving a sleek, uninterrupted look.
- High Seam Profile: The panels have a 1" or 1.75″ tall seam rib that enhances rigidity and weather resistance. The raised seams securely lock together, keeping wind-driven rain out and shedding heavy snow effectively.
- Custom Lengths: We fabricate panels to the lengths needed (up to very long spans) so you can have fewer end laps or seams. Continuous panel lengths help ensure a watertight roof and a clean appearance.
- Low Maintenance: Metal roofs require very little upkeep beyond periodic cleaning. Unlike asphalt roofs that may need frequent repairs or replacement, a standing seam roof won’t crack or lose granules, and it naturally sheds snow and debris. Just keep gutters clear and remove large debris occasionally for best performance
- Wide Color Selection: Choose from a broad palette of high-performance roof colors to match your project. Our panels are finished with long-lasting, fade-resistant paints (e.g. Kynar 500® finishes) that carry extensive warranties. These “cool roof” coatings also reflect solar heat, helping to lower building cooling costs.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will a Snap-Lock metal roof last?
Decades. Standing seam metal roofs are known as “lifetime” roofing systems. With proper installation and minimal maintenance, you can expect a lifespan of 40–60 years or more from our Snap-Lock panels. This is 2–3 times longer than a typical asphalt shingle roof, making metal roofing a cost-effective long-term investment.
Are metal roofs noisy when it rains or hails?
Not at all – this is a common myth. When installed over a solid roof deck with underlayment (as our panels are), a metal roof is no louder in the rain than an asphalt roof. The attic insulation and plywood sheathing dampen sound. In fact, many people report that rain on a metal roof is a softer, pleasant sound, and hail is usually no louder either. Proper installation ensures noise is kept to a minimum.
What’s the difference between the 16-inch and 18-inch Snap-Lock panels?
It’s mainly the width of the panel coverage. Both versions have the same seam height and general design. The 18″ panel covers a wider area per panel, which can mean fewer seams on a given roof and a slightly faster installation. The 16″ panel covers a bit less area per panel but can be advantageous for more intricate roof sections or to achieve a certain look (with slightly closer seam spacing). Structurally and performance-wise, they are very similar – both are made from 24-gauge steel, use concealed clip fasteners, and provide equal protection. The choice often comes down to aesthetic preference or specific project requirements.
Do I need to do a lot of maintenance on a standing seam metal roof?
Very little. One advantage of metal roofing is its low maintenance needs. The panels won’t crack, curl, or lose granules like shingles. Maintenance mainly involves periodic inspections (perhaps once or twice a year) to ensure everything is in good shape. You’ll want to clear any debris (like leaves) from valleys or gutters, and check that flashings and gutters are secure and clear. It’s also wise to trim overhanging tree branches near the roof. Other than that, no special treatments are required – the painted finish is long-lasting and the steel underneath is galvanized to prevent rust.
Will a metal roof make my home hotter in summer?
No – in fact, it can help keep your home cooler. Our Snap-Lock panels come with high-quality reflective paint coatings (often Cool Roof rated) that reflect a lot of the sun’s heat rather than absorbing it. This can reduce heat gain in the attic. Additionally, metal roofs quickly release any heat once the sun is down. Proper attic ventilation further ensures your roof doesn’t trap hot air. Many customers find their cooling bills are actually lower after installing a reflective metal roof.
